The
main villa residence is a stunning, bright, spacious home with eleven foot ceilings,
tile floors, terraces from common areas and private balconies from each bedroom,
all
with spectacular views.
It has 4 large bedrooms, 4 and a half bathrooms, 2 offices, a storage unit, a
large kitchen, living room, dining and lounge area, and many terraces and balconies.
Built
in 1952 by automotive
heiress Christine Cromwell (daughter of Delphine Dodge and Jimmie Cromwell) the
main villa residence retains most of its original structure with upgrades and
improvements. It is completely poured concrete, built strong the way it used to
be done.

All
the floors are the original Terrazzo tile. Windows have been upgraded with jalousies
and are tall and arched. All rooms have ceiling fans that circulate the trade
winds throughout the house.
The common living area is open, bright and airy. The large sunken living
room provides views of St. Thomas' central rolling hills and valleys through its
tall arched windows. In the background one can even get a glance of St. John's
mountain peaks.
A few steps up and across from the sunken living room, and completely open to
it, is the large dining and lounge area. In keeping with the original design of
the St. Thomas Club, these areas were adopted from their original purpose as a
social gathering and lounge area. The atmosphere is airy, well lit, and affords
window views to the east and south.
When
remodeled by the Smith family, a large opening on the western side of the dining
and lounge area was allowed so that the harbor and downtown view remained unobstructed.
The magnetism of the view draws everyone out and onto the western terrace where,
from this private hilltop location, one of the most unique vistas is absorbed.

From the terrace, the hilltop world class view is mesmerizing. Many clients and
guests have been entertained during the day and evening hours. Up to date, there
hasn't been one that has ever left this terrace without exclaiming the traditional
phrase, "What a view!".
This is the favorite place to relax, have meals and enjoy the tropical atmosphere
with the breathtaking view of St. Thomas harbor and Charlotte Amalie.
A
long hall way runs from the back door through the home. Passing the Main House's
4 large bedrooms, kitchen, original Club entrance branching hallway, and large
living, dining, and lounge areas, the half moon shaped terrace is accessible.
This unique cantilevered terrace overlooks the patio and pool directly south,
green rolling hills and valleys are to the east, and the harbor and downtown to
the west. Because of its cantilevered design, it has provided the stage area below
it for entertainers, speakers, and ceremonial head tables during previous patio
functions.
During the property's Club days, a
spiral staircase joined this terrace with the patio . This is a wonderful social
area and is the perfect place for a bar.

Floor
Plan Click
on the image to view enlarged floor plan. The
villa floor plan is quite versatile. With a simple divisional wall, the southern
half of the Main House containing the living, dining, lounge, and terraces could
easily be converted into a restaurant. The Northern half would still allow for
substantial living quarters, additional hotel rental units, office space, or rentable
private dining / entertainment rooms used in unison with the restaurant.

Pool
and Lounge Deck
The
villa residents and hotel guests
alike may enjoy a dip in the pool and some lounging
in the sun. There's nothing quite
as relaxing as a pool with a view. Villa Blanca has just that and is surrounded
by a tropical paradise of flora and fauna. See Villa
Blanca Gardens for
photos of flora.
